Oklahoma State Moves Ahead On Day Two at Big 12 Menís Golf Championship

HUTCHINSON, Kan.
--  Oklahoma State has taken the lead at the Big 12 Men’s Golf Championship being held at the par-70 course at the Prairie Dunes Golf Club. Fair weather temperatures were highlighted by a series of strong performances individually, as the overall team standings tightened heading into the last day of competition.

Baylor’s Bill Allcorn went even in the third round to take sole possession of the top spot individually, maintaining his one under  par for an overall score of 209. Kansas State’s Robert Streb posted the best performance individually on the day, shooting three under to move him into third with a three-round score of 211. Streb’s 67 is the lowest-round total of this year’s event, and ties for second in lowest third-round score in Championship history. Also vying for top medalist honors is Morgan Hoffmann (OSU) who is one stroke behind Allcorn after shooting the second-lowest score in the third round of 68.

OSU positioned themselves three strokes (+28) ahead of Colorado (+31) after recording the lowest third-round score (287) of the day. Texas A&M is in third (+41) after being two strokes ahead of Baylor (+43), and Kansas State’s second-lowest round total of 289 put them in a tie for fifth with Kansas (+54). Additonally, Colorado, Kansas and Missouri all produced a 290 in the third outing, which resulted in the third-lowest score of the round.

The final day of the 2009 Big 12 Men’s Golf Championship will tee off at 8 a.m. CT tomorrow, April 29. Admission is free to the public.
