Repeat Honorees Dominate Big 12 Swimming and Diving Awards

Three Longhorns and one Aggie were honored with Big 12 Swimmer and Diver of the Week awards for competition from Dec. 12 - Jan. 8. Jimmy Feigen (Texas) earned his second straight men's swimmer of the week recognition, while Matthew Cooper (Texas) was named men's diver of the week for a third straight time. On the women's side, Karlee Bispo (Texas) earned a second consecutive swimmer of the week honor and Jaele Patrick (Texas A&M) received her third diver award of the season.

This is the third career Big 12 honor for Feigen, the seventh for Patrick and the ninth for Cooper and Bispo.

Men's Swimmer of the Week
Jimmy Feigen, Texas, Sr., San Antonio, Texas
Feigen helped lead Texas to a win over No. 9 Georgia on senior day. The senior finished first in all four events he participated in including the 200-yard medley relay (1:29:56), the 50-yard freestyle (19.94), the 100-yard freestyle (45.02) and the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:02.51). He swam B cut times in both the 200 medley relay and 50 freestyle.

Men's Diver of the Week
Matthew Cooper, Texas, Sr., Bethesda, Md.
In a dual versus No. 9 Georgia, Cooper won the 3-meter with a top score of 444.45 although he did not record team points as the match was clinched and he was entered in as exhibition. Earlier in the meet he posted a second place finish on the 1-meter board with a score of 403.05.

Women's Swimmer of the Week
Karlee Bispo, Texas, Sr., Modesto, Calif.
Bispo recorded wins in all four of her races to help guide the Longhorns to a victory over the No. 1 ranked Georgia Bulldogs. It was the first dual loss in two years for the Bulldogs whose last lost also came against Texas in the 2009-10 season. Bispo won all three of the sprint freestyle races (50, 100 and 200) and also anchored the first place 200-yard medley relay team. All four of her times were NCAA B cut times.

Women's Diver of the Week
Jaele Patrick, Texas A&M, Sr., Lilydale, Australia
Patrick earned silver medals at the 2011 Australia Open on the 1- and 3-meter springboards with scores of 268.55 and 309.85, respectively. She also teamed with Anna Gelai for the bronze in the 3-meter synchronized with a score of 282.60.
