Texas, Texas A&M Continue Hold on Big 12 Swimming and Diving Honors

For a second straight awards cycle, Texas and Texas A&M have swept the Big 12 Swimmer and Diver of the Week awards for competition from Jan. 9-22. Jackson Wilcox (Texas) claimed the men's swimmer of the week award, while Grant Nel (Texas A&M) was named men's diver of the week for the second time this year. On the women's side, Cammile Adams (Texas A&M) garnered her first swimmer of the week honor and Jaele Patrick (Texas A&M) received her fourth diver award of the season and second straight.

This is the first career honor for Adams and the third for Nel. Wilcox collects his fourth award, and Patrick has now been honored eight times in her career.

Men's Swimmer of the Week
Jackson Wilcox, Texas, Sr., Nashville, Tenn.
Wilcox posted first place finishes in the 500 and 1000-yard freestyle to help Texas defeat No. 7 Auburn, 161-131. His 1000-yard freestyle time of 9:01.22 was the fastest in the country at the time of the meet and now sits as the nation's 10th best time. It was over three seconds faster than the previous best. Wilcox finished the 500-yard freestyle in 4:26.84.

Men's Diver of the Week
Grant Nel, Texas A&M, Sr., Melbourne, Australia
Nel won both the 1 and 3-meter springboard events in a road dual against LSU. The senior posted a season-high score of 410.05 in the 1-meter event, while carding a 416.25 at the 3-meter level.

Women's Swimmer of the Week
Cammile Adams, Texas A&M, So., Cypress, Texas
Adams scored a hat trick with three first place finishes in each of her individual events in a dual meet against SMU. She touched first in the 200-yard butterfly (1:57.10), the 500-yard freestyle (4:47.36) and the 400-yard individual medley (4:16.09). In the Austin Grand Prix, Adams took first place in the 400-meter individual medley and the 200-meter fly (2:06.76). In the individual medley race, she was ahead of the American record time halfway through and held on to beat out Olympic silver medalist Katie Hoff for fthe top time of 4:38.80.

Women's Diver of the Week
Jaele Patrick, Texas A&M, Sr., Lilydale, Australia
In dual matches against SMU and LSU, Patrick tallied four first place showings, winning both the 1 and 3-meter springboard events on each day. Her best scores came against SMU as she recorded a 344.65 in the 1-meter event and a score of 371.10 on the 3-meter springboard.
