This marks the third AVCA national weekly honor for the Big 12 this season. Kaitlynn Pelger (Kansas State) and Caroline Jarmoc (Kansas) have also earned the distinction.
Eckerman totaled 35 kills and only five errors in 62 attempts for a .484 hitting percentage last week as the Longhorns claimed sweeps over Texas Tech and West Virginia. The sophomore averaged 5.83 kills per set and 6.92 points per set as UT clinched the Big 12 title on Wednesday against the Red Raiders and then extended its home conference win streak in league play to 40 matches on Saturday versus WVU. In the two matches combined, Eckerman also recorded four service aces, 10 digs and four blocks. She currently leads the Big 12 in kills (4.64), service aces (0.45) and points (5.35).
She was named the Big 12 Player of the Week on Monday - her fifth this season and seventh overall.
