Sooners Sweep Weekly Softball Awards
March 19, 2013

Oklahoma's Keilani Ricketts and Lauren Chamberlain have been named the Big 12 Pitcher and Player of the week for games March 13-17. The honor marks the second time this season the duo has swept the awards, as they claimed the first accolades of the year on February 12. Chamberlain picks up her second award of the season while Ricketts collected her third award this year and 14th of her career.

Big 12 Player of the Week
Lauren Chamberlain, Oklahoma, So., INF, Trabuco Canyon, Calif.
Chamberlain was red-hot during the Sooner's 5-0 weekend at the Judi Garman Classic in Fullerton, Calif. Starting all five games at first base, Chamberlain hit .556 with six runs scored, three home runs and six RBI. She tallied 14 total bases for a 1.556 slugging percentage, while nine walks helped boost her on-base percentage to .778. She was also 1-for-1 in stolen bases and did not strike out over the weekend.

The sophomore saved her best performance of the weekend for Oklahoma's toughest competition. Facing No. 14/19 Arizona, she went 2-for-2 with a pair of solo home runs and two walks in a 4-0 victory. Chamberlain got the scoring started for the Sooners in the first, launching a 2-2 pitch over the wall in left center for her third leadoff homer of the season. After walking in the second, Chamberlain hit her second home run of the day with a full-count blast to left field to lead off the fourth. It marked the 11th multi-homer game of her career.

In the finale against Cal State Fullerton, a 9-0, five-inning triumph, Chamberlain worked the count to 3-1 before smashing her 16th home run of the season, a three-run shot to center field to give the Sooners a 4-0 lead.
