With a 4-0 victory over Oklahoma State Saturday afternoon, the top-ranked Oklahoma Sooners have claimed their sixth regular-season Big 12 softball title.

It is Oklahoma’s 10th overall Big 12 crown, which includes four postseason titles (1996, 2001, ‘07, ‘10), all of which have occurred under head coach Patty Gasso. She is the league’s winningest coach with 1,078 victories in her career, 917 recorded at OU. During her tenure at Oklahoma, Gasso has led the Sooners to 20 consecutive 40-win seasons and seven Women’s College World Series appearances, including a runner-up finish in 2012.

The 10 total crowns are the most in league history. With the title-clenching victory, OU moved to 46-4 on the year and 14-2 in conference play.

The Sooners have been ranked in the top two nationally all season, including the last nine weeks as the No.1 team in both the NFCA and USA Softball polls. OU finishes the season with a 16-3 record against ranked opponents and a perfect 19-0 mark in neutral site contests.

All season, Oklahoma has been paced in the circle by senior Keilani Ricketts, who leads the Conference in wins (26) and shutouts (14), and sits second in opponent batting average, complete games and strikeouts through all games. The San Jose, Calif.-native has recorded four no-hit performances this year, giving her a total of five in her illustrious career. Both marks are the most in Sooner history.

The regular season wraps up Sunday, May 12. The league’s teams will learn their postseason fate on Sunday, May 12, in the NCAA Division I Softball Selection Show at 9 p.m. CT on ESPNU. Regional competition will take place May 17-19.
