Four Big 12 baseball student-athletes have earned spots on the 2013 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team 24-man roster. TCU’s Riley Ferrell, Brandon Finnegan and Preston Morrison join Texas’ C.J Hinjosa as the league’s four representatives. The team is managed by TCU head coach Jim Schlossnagle.
Schlossnagle is the fifth Big 12 head coach to manage the Collegiate National Team. Overall, the league has totaled 46 members on the team.
The Horned Frogs lead all teams with the three athletes and are one of three schools (Indiana and NC State) that have multiple student-athletes on the squad.
International competition is slated to begin July 5 with an exhibition contest against the Matsuyama Industrial League. The 39th edition of the USA-Japan series gets underway July 6 in Matsuyama, Japan. Upon returning to the United States, the CNT will play a pair of exhibition games before opening up a five game series against Cuba on July 18 in Des Moines, Iowa.
