Trevone Boykin (TCU), Emmanuel Ogbah (Oklahoma State) and Mario Alford (West Virginia) were named the season’s first Big 12 Football Players of the Week by a panel of media that cover the Conference. Each picked up his first career honor.

Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week
Trevone Boykin, TCU, QB, Jr, Dallas, Texas
Trevone Boykin totaled 349 yards of total offense and three touchdowns in TCU’s 48-14 season-opening victory over Samford. The junior completed 29-of-41 passes for 320 yards with two TDs and no interceptions. He also added a one-yard rushing score. The 29 completions were a career high, while the 320 yards passing were just shy of a career best (332 vs. Texas Tech, 2012). Boykin led TCU on scoring drives on seven of his 12 possessions.

Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week
Emmanuel Ogbah, Oklahoma State, DE, So, Houston, Texas
Emmanuel Ogbah was a disruptive force for Oklahoma State's defense against top-ranked Florida State as he logged six tackles, two sacks, two tackles for loss and two pass breakups. Ogbah and the defensive line recorded four tackles for loss and helped OSU limit the Seminoles to 3.4 yards per rush while providing a consistent pass rush on Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Jameis Winston without the Cowboys needing to blitz.

Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week
Mario Alford, West Virginia, KOR, Sr, Greenville, Ga.
Mario Alford posted a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in West Virginia’s game against No. 2 Alabama. It was the first kickoff return touchdown of his career and set the Chick-fil-A kickoff game record for longest kickoff return in its history. It also marked the eighth time in WVU history for a 100-yard TD return. Alford added 54 yards receiving to lead all players with 154 all-purpose yards.
