Logan Verrett and Chris Slater (Baylor) have earned Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for the games of March 7-13, in voting by a panel of media covering the Conference. Sharing Newcomer of the Week honors are pitcher Chris Marlowe (Oklahoma State) and infielder Eric Weiss (Texas). This marks Verrett's second Pitcher of the Week career nod, while Slater, Marlowe and Weiss earn their first weekly league distinctions.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Chris Slater, Baylor, OF, Sr., 6-1, 195, Plano, Texas (Plano East)
Slater hit .600 (12-for-20) with two doubles, one triple, one walk, seven RBI and seven runs scored to lead BU to its first 5-0 week since May 2006. The senior recorded four consecutive three-hit games and scored at least one run in all five contests. On Tuesday, at Texas State, Slater was a perfect 3-for-3 before going 3-for-4 on Thursday and Friday. He drove in three runs and scored twice in a 3-for-5 effort on Saturday and concluded the Bears' sweep of Louisiana Tech with a run and RBI in the series finale on Sunday. With the stellar week, the senior raised his average from .185 (3-for-19) to .385 (15-for-39).
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Logan Verrett, Baylor, RHP, Jr., 6-3, 185, Corpus Christi, Texas (Calallen)
Verrett fired a complete game one-hitter with 14 strikeouts in Baylor's 7-0 win over Louisiana Tech Friday night. The right-hander allowed an infield single to lead off the game before holding the next 27 batters hitless and facing just one batter over the minimum with a walk in the eighth. From there, the Corpus Christi, Texas, native retired the next four batters to tie a Baylor Ballpark record with the 14 punch outs. His performance marks the fewest hits allowed in a nine-inning game at BU since Feb. 16, 2002.

The junior struck out 10 of the 16 batters he faced, allowing just two hits and no runs. He fanned at least two batters in each of the five innings in which he appeared, including striking out the side in the eighth and 11th innings.
