Jamodrick McGruder (Texas Tech), Brad Propst (Oklahoma State) and Krey Bratsen (Texas A&M) have garnered Phillips 66 Big 12 baseball weekly honors for games of March 21-27, in voting by a panel of media covering the Conference. This marks the first distinction for all three. McGruder collected Player of the Week honors, while Propst was named the Pitcher of the Week and Bratsen earned the Newcomer of the Week distinction.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jamodrick McGruder, Texas Tech, So., 2B, 5-7, 155, Mesquite, Texas (Lubbock Coronado)
McGruder hit .500 (7-for-14) with three extra-base hits, a .650 on-base percentage and a .786 slugging percentage. The sophomore finished the week reaching base safely in 9-of-11 plate appearances. In TTU's series victory against Nebraska, he went 5-for-9, going 3-for-4 in Saturday's contest with a triple, RBI and two walks. The Red Raiders have now won back-to-back series to open Big 12 play for the first time since 1999. He began the week going 2-for-5 with three RBI, a double and a run scored against Dallas Baptist while leading Tech to a come-from-behind win at Patriot Field. The Mesquite, Texas, native ranks fifth in the league with a .389 batting average and 35 hits.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Brad Propst, Oklahoma State, Sr., RHP, 6-2, 282, Amarillo, Texas (Frank Phllips College)
Propst pitched the second complete game of his career in a 3-1 win over No. 4 Texas on Saturday. The senior allowed just one run on seven hits with six strikeouts and no walks against the Longhorns. The right-hander took a shutout into the ninth inning after allowing just four hits over the first eight innings. He also retired the side in order in four of the game's first eight innings en route to his team-leading fourth win of the season.
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK
Krey Bratsen, Texas A&M, Fr., OF, 6-0, 170, Bryan, Texas (Bryan)
Bratsen helped the Aggies to a 4-0 record last week, batting .438 (7-for-16) with a double, five RBI, two runs and two stolen bases. On Saturday, the freshman notched a career-high four hits during a 4-for-5 afternoon that featured two runs, two RBI and a steal in an 11-1 win over the Jayhawks. In the series finale, he registered his team-leading 11th multi-hit game as the Aggies completed the sweep of Kansas. The Bryan, Texas, product was 2-for-3 at the plate, swiped a base and knocked home two of the Aggie runs in the 3-1 victory. Bratsen also gunned down a runner at third base from center field during the seventh inning of Sunday's contest. In the three games against KU, Bratsen was 7-for-12 (.582) as the Aggies ascended to the top of the Big 12 standings.
