• The Big 12 is the only conference with all of its teams ranked in the top 100 of the NCAA RPI (per April 22 rankings).
• Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas and Texas Tech enter the week ranked in the top 25 of four national polls. OSU maintains it highest ranking of the season at No. 9. Texas sits as high as No. 11, while TCU’s best ranking is 12th. Following its third consecutive weekend series sweep, Texas Tech received a national ranking from all five national polls – its highest at No. 19, which is the best ranking for the Red Raiders since 2005.
• After winning their fifth straight Big 12 series this past weekend at Texas, the Oklahoma State Cowboys remain atop the league standings with a 13-5 record. OSU plays a non-conference series against Arizona State this weekend before closing out its league schedule with Kansas State and Oklahoma.
• TCU and West Virginia posted undefeated records last week. WVU improved to 7-7 in the league standings with a sweep of K-State, while TCU recorded three shutouts in four games. The Horned Frogs tallied their second straight week with a 0.25 ERA and their 12 shutouts on the year are one shy of matching the Big 12 single-season record set in 2011 by Texas.
• K-State’s Ross Kivett is nine hits shy of becoming the first Wildcat on the Big 12’s career top 10 list for hits. The senior has amassed 265 over his four years and is also climbing the career charts for stolen bases, currently ranked tied for fifth with 78.
• A sweep of Baylor this past weekend gave KU head coach Ritch Price milestones wins. Saturday’s victory was the 1,000th for Price between all three levels he has coached, while Sunday’s win gave him his 600th at the Division I level.
• Four Big 12 teams rank in the top 20 nationally in walks - Oklahoma State (4th), Texas Tech (10th), Texas (16th) and Kansas State (19th). The Red Raiders are also in the top 10 in double plays, doubles, fielding percentage, runs and triples.
• Kansas’ Jordan Piché threw the Jayhawks’ Big 12-leading sixth complete game last Friday night vs. Baylor. The senior allowed just one hit and was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week.
• Texas’ Mark Payton extended his reached base streak to 84 games (dating back to 2013). Payton is chasing the Big 12 record of 93 consecutive games set by K-State’s Nick Martini from 2009-11. His 2014 streak is at 45 games (Martini’s single-season record is 59 games).
• Individually, WVU has the league’s two leaders for multi-hit and multi-RBI games with Bobby Boyd leading the league with 22 multi-hit contests and Ryan McBroom topping the multi-RBI leaders with 14 games.
