• The Big 12 is second in the nation in conference RPI and has nine teams in the NCAA RPI top 75 as of April 15 - 3. Texas, 10. Texas Tech, 34. TCU, 53. West Virginia, 60. Kansas, 61. K-State, 70. Oklahoma State, 73. Baylor. Oklahoma maintains an RPI of 87.
• Oklahoma State and TCU joined Texas in this week’s Baseball America rankings. The Horned Frogs check in at No. 23, while OSU is 21st. The Pokes are ranked as high as No. 9 (NCBWA) while Texas is ranked 10th in all four national polls. Texas Tech holds a No. 21 ranking on two lists.
• After winning its seventh straight Big 12 game, Oklahoma State took over first-place in the league standings last weekend and own an 11-4 record in league play. OSU leads the Big 12 in batting average and ERA for conference-only contests. The Cowboys will face third-place Texas in Austin this weekend.
• TCU earned its first sweep over Texas in 20 years last weekend as the Horned Frog pitching staff limited UT to just one run over the three games. TCU has held an opponent to one or fewer runs 20 times this season and posted a 0.25 ERA over four games last week.
• In a non-conference midweek game last Tuesday, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State played 18 innings and nearly six hours with OU winning, 12-9. It was the first Big 12 game to go past 16 innings since 2012, but seven innings short of the longest game in league history of 25 innings by Texas.
• West Virginia led the league in batting average last week and also played four games without an error. The Mountaineers are the only Big 12 team with multiple players in both the top 10 for batting and ERA for overall games on the season. WVU has three players in the top 10 for batting (Boyd, Fleming, McBroom).
• Josh Michalec (Baylor) and Brendan McCurry (Oklahoma State) are the only league closers with double-digit saves on the season with 14 and 11, respectively. The Big 12 record for saves in a single season is 20 (Jeff Bajenaru, Oklahoma, 1999).
• K-State’s Blair DeBord became one of three active players with 100 or more RBI while Texas’ Mark Payton broke the league’s career walks chart. The senior sits in 10th place with 125 for his career. Ross Kivett (K-State) moved into 8th on the Big 12 career stolen base charts and is 20 away from the first-place spot.
