Garrett Buechele (Oklahoma) has been recognized as the Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Player of the Week, while Chance Ruffin (Texas) earnedthe Pitcher of the Week accolade for games of May 17-23, in voting by a panel of media covering the Conference. This marks the first career honor for both student-athletes.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Buechele hit .522 and posted an .870 slugging percentrage to lead the Sooners to an undefeated 5-0 week. In conference play, the sophomore batted .538 with five runs, two doubles and a home run for a .923 slugging percentage as OU swept Kansas. The home run was his 13th of the season, his fourth in league action. The Arlington, Texas-infielder has hit safely in 26 of the last 28 games, including all five contests last week. Buechele leads Oklahoma in batting average (.387), hits (82), doubles (15), runs (47) and RBI (59).
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Chance Ruffin, Texas, RHP, Jr., 6-1, 195, Austin, Texas/Lake Travis
Ruffin struck out eight of the 12 batters he faced in 3.2 innings over the weekend, as the Longhorns went 3-0 against Missouri for their sixth Big 12 series sweep of the year. In Friday’s contest, the junior right-handed pitcher fanned six of the seven batters he faced and allowed just one hit in 2.0 innings of work to get his 13th save of the season. The Austin, Texas-native earned the win on Saturday, retiring two of the five batters he faced in 1.2 innings.
