Oklahoma Remains in First at Women’s Golf Championship
April 26, 2014

AUSTIN, Texas - An intermittent light mist did not stop Oklahoma from remaining at the top of the leaderboards at the conclusion of day two of the 2014 Big 12 Women’s Golf Championship.

The Sooners remain three strokes ahead of Texas after a 4-plus-par day to sit at 7-plus-par for a total score of 583. The Longhorns jumped two spots to second after an eight-stroke improvement today.

Kansas climbed from fourth to second with a score of 592, nine strokes behind the Sooners. The biggest improvement on the day was Iowa State’s leap from eighth to fourth. The Cyclones recorded a day two score of 293, a nine-stroke improvement from yesterday’s 302.

Kansas State’s Katherine Coursol was forced to withdraw from today’s round due to illness as the Wildcats had the largest drop from day one to day two. K-State finished the day in seventh after sitting at the number two spot at the end of day one.

Texas’ Natalie Karcher pushed through seven spots to sit at the top of the individual leaderboard. Karcher shot a minus-three score of 69 to outpace day one leaders, Chirapat Jao-Javanil (Oklahoma) and Yupaporn Kawinpakorn (Kansas). Karcher holds a one-stroke lead at 4-under-par with Jao-Javanil close behind at 3-under-par and Kawinpakorn at 2-under-par.
