Big 12 Football Television Selection InformationUnder the new agreement executed in the fall of 2012, ABC/ESPN and FOX have the right to distribute games on various platforms including ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, FOX, FX, Fox Sports Net and Fox College Sports.
The two networks have developed a "draft" order for selection of games with ABC/ESPN continuing to have the majority of primary selections during the course of the season...up to 19 overall selections. FOX will have a limited number of priority selections and then televise all games beyond the 19 ABC/ESPN picks. For example, ABC could utilize "draft" picks to select games first, second and third on a specific date, or, FOX could "draft" to pick second and third on a specific date. Each institution has the right to retain one game for distribution on its' own platform (e.g. Longhorn Network, Sooner Sports Network powered by FOX Sports, K-StateHD.tv, etc.).
Games for the first three weeks of the season and special date games (e.g. Labor Day Sunday, Thursday nights) must be selected by June 1. The remaining games will be selected on 12 days notice, except that four times per year the television partners may utilize a six-day selection progress.
