Caroline Jarmoc (Kansas) was named the Big 12 volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, while Brianne Riley (Kansas) and María Fernanda (Oklahoma) shared Defensive Player of the Week honors. Emily Ehrle (Texas Tech) earned the Rookie of the Week accolade, the second consecutive week a Red Raider has picked up the recognition. Awards were determined based on matches from Sept. 3-9.

This marks the third career Conference honor for Jarmoc, who earned two defensive distinctions in 2011. She is the first Jayhawk to win an offensive award since Nov. 10, 2008. Fernanda also records her third career honor. The senior claimed a defensive award in 2011 and a rookie nod in 2009. Riley earns her second career honor, while this is the first for Ehrle.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Caroline Jarmoc, Kansas, MB, Jr., Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Jarmoc picked up tournament MVP honors for the second week in a row as the junior posted 38 kills and a .541 hitting percentage in the Jayhawk Invitational over the weekend. Along with a midweek match for KU, the middle blocker posted a .545 hitting percentage, 54 kills and an average of 5.04 points in 13 sets played. Her most impressive performance came in a KU victory over Arizona State on Friday, when she pounded out 14 kills and no errors on an efficient .824 attack percentage in addition to six blocks. The .824 hitting percentage set a Big 12 single-season record for a four-set match. On the season, she ranks in the top-3 in four Big 12 categories, including first in hitting percentage (.468).

DEFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Brianne Riley, Kansas, L, Jr., Naperville, Ill.
Riley posted double-digit dig totals in KU's four matches last week, a total of 76 over 13 sets for an average of 5.85 on the week. The junior posted back-to-back 20 dig performances as the Jayhawks overcame Arizona State and Wyoming over the weekend. In only three quick sets against the Cowgirls, Riley totaled 21 digs. Her 59 weekend digs gave her a 5.90 digs per set average and brought her season mark to 5.68, keeping her atop the Big 12 leader board. She has totaled 1,078 career digs, seventh on KU's all-time list and first among Big 12 active players.

María Fernanda, Oklahoma, DS, Sr., Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico
Fernanda was selected to the 2012 Ameritas Players Challenge All-Tournament Team after totaling 59 digs in three matches over the weekend to lift the Sooners to 8-3 on the year. In OU's victory over No. 19 Kentucky, Fernanda totaled 23 digs. She was one dig shy of matching her personal, and a program-best, 25 digs in a three-set match after she totaled 24 in a sweep over Duquesne. The back-to-back 20-plus dig performances marked the fifth of her senior season, and 40th of her career. In Oklahoma's midweek win over Arkansas, she totaled 23 digs for a total of 83 digs in a span of five days, four matches and 14 sets, an average of 5.86.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Emily Ehrle, Texas Tech, OH, Fr., Crowley, Texas
Ehrle led Texas Tech with 46 kills over four matches last week, including double digit kill totals over the final two matches of the University of Montana Tournament. Over 14 sets, she averaged 3.29 kills and 3.32 points, while also hitting .293. Her best contest came against Furman, where she recorded 23 kills and a .432 hit percentage. It was also the most kills by a Red Raider since Amanda Dowdy connected on 26 at New Mexico on Sept. 26 last year. The Red Raiders' 3-1 week improved Texas Tech to 10-1 on the year, marking the second straight season the program has won 10 of its first 11 contests.
