Five Big 12 volleyball teams are ranked or receiving votes in this week's AVCA national poll. The Longhorns and Cyclones maintained their spots from last week staying put at No. 9 and No. 19, respectively. The Wildcats enter this week ranked 15th. Oklahoma is receiving votes for the third straight week, while Kansas has begun receiving votes.

In the first full week of Conference play, Oklahoma handed K-State its first lost of the season, sweeping the Wildcats last Wednesday in Norman. Texas improved to 2-0 in Big 12 play with a win over the Sooners on Saturday. The league's two new members, TCU and West Virginia, battled to five sets on Saturday with the Horned Frogs rallying from a 2-0 deficit to take the match.

This week's league schedule features eight matchups. Kansas is the only team not scheduled for two Conference matches. Baylor's Big 12 home opener against Texas will be on ESPNU on Tuesday night. It is the first home match for BU in 21 days. The Bears have not won against UT since 2001 and will also host No. 15 Kansas State on Saturday in Waco.

The Jayhawks and Red Raiders will face their first ranked opponents of the season as part of this week's Conference matchups. Kansas will host No. 19 Iowa State on Wednesday, while Texas Tech will welcome No. 9 Texas on Saturday. KU is one of four Conference teams undefeated at home so far this season with an 8-0 mark in Lawrence.

Texas' Haley Eckerman and Iowa State's Kristen Hahn added to their career weekly honor totals. Eckerman, the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week, has totaled eight career awards over her two years at UT. It is the fourth-most awards for any player in Big 12 history. Hahn recorded her sixth Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week, which is the third-most in that category for any league player all time.

Last week's Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week, Kaitlynn Pelger (Kansas State), was named the AVCA National Player of the Week. It was the 33rd recognition by a Big 12 student-athlete since the 1996 season.

The Big 12 is 91-25 against non-conference competition this year.

Texas leads the nation in blocks per set, averaging 3.25. The Big 12 has five teams ranked in the top 40. Oklahoma's Sallie McLaurin ranks second individually in the category.

Texas (12th), Iowa State (13th) and Kansas State (18th) are ranked in the top 20 nationally in average home attendance. TCU (43rd) and Baylor (45th) sit in the top 50.
