Texas, Kansas State, Kansas and Iowa State remain ranked in the AVCA national poll. Texas saw the biggest move of the week, jumping up to No. 3 (from No. 8). It is the highest ranking for the Longhorns since they opened the season ranked second. Kansas State sits at No. 17, while Iowa State and Kansas are ranked 20th and 23rd, respectively.
UT remains atop the Big 12 standings with three weeks remaining in the regular season. The Longhorns are a perfect 12-0 in league play with four matches left. An undefeated conference mark has been posted on four occasions, but has not occurred since 2004 (NU, 20-0, 2000-02 & ‘04). Texas has lost just seven league matches since 2007.
With the combination of a Kansas and Iowa State loss this week and a Texas win on Saturday at KU, the Longhorns will claim a share of the Big 12 crown.
The Longhorns are one of three squads who have yet to lose a Big 12 match at home. Both Kansas and Iowa State are also undefeated at home. Texas visits Lawrence on Saturday, where the Jayhawks are also 13-0 in overall matches this year. Iowa State will wrap up its home schedule with the Big 12's two top-ranked teams, hosting No. 17 Kansas State on Nov. 14 and Texas on Nov. 24, the last match of the season.
In Big 12 history, teams have posted undefeated records at home on 15 occasions (overall matches). At least one conference team has been perfect at home in overall matches in every season but 2002 and 2004. In Big 12-only contests, undefeated home records have been achieved on 18 occasions and at least once a season. In 2005 and 2007, multiple league teams went perfect at home in conference matches. Texas has not lost a home conference match since 2008, holding a winning streak of 38 straight wins at home against league opponents.
Kansas and Iowa State sit in a two-way tie for second place in the league standings. KU faces No. 17 Kansas State on the road on Wednesday before hosting Texas on Saturday, while Iowa State has just one match on tap this week. K-State and Oklahoma are in third with 7-4 marks.
The Big 12 is 93-28 against non-conference competition this year. The Conference is 11-10 against ranked teams outside the Big 12.
Kansas, Kansas State and Texas have reached the 20-win mark on the year. This is the first time since 2003 that the Jayhawks have posted 20+ victories in a season while Texas records its ninth straight season with 20 or more wins.
For the sixth time this season and 10th time in her career, Iowa State libero Kristen Hahn earned the league's Defensive Player of the Week distinction. Hahn needs one more award to match the single-season high (seven, Haley Eckerman, 2011). The junior has earned the second-most awards in the category in league history, trailing former ISU libero Ashley Mass (15).
Texas is second in the nation in hitting percentage (.305) and third in blocks per set (3.14). Haley Eckerman sits in the top 10 in kills and points.
