After the first week of conference play, reigning regular season champion Texas sits atop the standings with a 2-0 mark. The Longhorns recorded a pair of sweeps last week, including on Saturday against Oklahoma to extend their streak of Big 12 wins at home to 42. The streak now spans five seasons and began with a 3-0 win over Texas A&M on Nov. 1, 2008.

UT moved up one spot in this week’s AVCA national rankings and is now fourth in the nation. ISU maintained the No. 25 ranking, while Kansas, K-State and Oklahoma are all receiving votes. The Wildcats and Sooners have received votes all season, while KU is receiving after a three-week hiatus from the national list.

Eight league matches are tap for the sixth week of the regular season. Baylor, Kansas State and Texas Tech will each host two home contests after opening conference play on the road last week. Meanwhile, Iowa State, Kansas and West Virginia will play both contests on the road.

All four of Wednesday’s matches will be telecast with Texas at Baylor’s 8 p.m. matchup on ESPNU highlighting the lineup. Also on Wednesday, the Jayhawks and Wildcats are meeting for the 100th time in a series that dates back to 1975. Kansas State is the only team that KU has faced 100 times in program history.

ISU’s Christy Johnson-Lynch recorded her 100th career Big 12 victory on Saturday. She is one of four active coaches to reach the century win mark in league matches.

West Virginia picked up its first Big 12 victory with a 3-1 win over Kansas State in Morgantown on Friday. The Mountaineers held K-State to just a .077 team hitting percentage for the match. They lead the league in opponent hitting percentage with a .133 mark. WVU is one of 15 teams nationally with one loss or less on the season.

Kansas has rattled off seven straight wins and has lost just five sets in that span. The Jayhawks lead the conference in team hitting, kills and assists. They are the only league team leading the Big 12 in more than one statistical category.

ISU’s Kristen Hahn collected her 14th career Big 12 weekly award this week, sharing the Defensive Player of the Week honor with KU’s Caroline Jarmoc. Hahn’s 14 awards ranks second all-time in league history, one shy of former Cyclone Ashley Mass’ 15. The Jayhawks’ Tiana Dockery also claimed the Offensive Player of the Week honor. Kansas has now won a league weekly accolade in four straight weeks and totaled six awards for the season.
