Iowa State and Texas remain ranked in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Top 25 poll. Texas sits at No. 9, while Iowa State remains 13th. Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Kansas State are receiving votes. The Aggies have received votes for the past 11 weeks, while the Wildcats have for the past seven.
Texas still holds the top spot in the Big 12 standings with two weeks remaining in the regular season. The Longhorns have just one conference loss on the season (Oklahoma). UT is 11-0 at home, including 6-0 in conference play in Austin, and carry a 10-match winning streak. The past 11 conference champions have been undefeated at home in league play.
The Big 12 Conference has named 61 student-athletes to the 2011 Academic All-Big 12 Volleyball Team. The 61 honorees is the most in Conference history, with 59 members in 1996 being the previous high.
Texas and Texas A&M both went 2-0 last week in conference play. The Aggies joined Iowa State and Missouri as the only two teams in league play with 20 wins thus far. At least four Big 12 teams have finished the season with 20-plus wins, including five teams each of the past two years.
Only Texas and Iowa State have one loss in conference play on the road. The Cyclones are an overall 12-3 away from Ames, including neutral matches. Since 1996, a team has finished with one or no road losses in conference play 15 times. Texas has recorded four such occasions. ISU's best road conference record is an 8-2 mark in 2009.
Baylor's Allison King took over the third spot on the Big 12 career digs list with 21 on Saturday against Oklahoma. She currently has 2,023 digs, which is nine shy of the No. 2 spot on the list. The Bears defeated the Sooners for their first conference road win of the season. It was also the first win for BU over a ranked team since December 2009.
Oklahoma's María Fernanda cracked the top 10 career digs list. She sits in 10th place with 1,554, however, she needs just 30 digs to claim the seventh spot (1,583).
UT owns the third-longest active home winning streak in the nation having won 26-straight contests in Austin. Only Cincinnati (48) and Nebraska (34) have longer active win streaks at home.
The Cyclones are second in the nation in RPI, behind Illinois. Texas ranks fourth, Texas A&M 19th and Kansas State 26th. Oklahoma and Missouri are ranked 30th and 32nd, respectively. Baylor (42), Kansas (44) and Texas Tech (87) round out the remaining league schools. ISU's No. 2 RPI ranking is the highest in program history. The squad was 6th in 2009. The Big 12 is one of three conferences with five or more teams ranked in the top 30 for RPI. The league's five teams is tied for second-most.
