Caroline Jarmoc (Kansas) and Bailey Webster (Texas) are among 10 NCAA women’s volleyball student-athletes selected as finalists for the 2013 Senior CLASS Award.
The Big 12 is one of three conferences with two or more finalists.
Jarmoc was named Academic All-Big 12 First Team and the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team following a memorable 2012 season. While leading the Big 12 Conference in attack percentage, Jarmoc also kept a 3.23 GPA in her fourth year in the Chemical Engineering program. An international student with dual citizenship in Canada and Poland, Jarmoc’s application to the School of Engineering was accepted while the international player was acclimating herself to the speed and style of American volleyball.
A five-time Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll selection, Webster graduated with a bachelor’s degree in corporate communication in December 2012 and is currently enrolled in graduate classes. She earned the 2012 UT Arthur Ashe, Jr., Sports Scholar Award and V.F. "Doc" Neuhaus Award honors.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition. The complete list of candidates follows this release.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School ®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
The finalists were chosen by a media committee from the list of 30 candidates announced in August. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to help select the winner. Fans are encouraged to vote on the Senior CLASS Award website through December 9. Fan votes will be combined with media and Division I head coaches’ votes to determine the winner. The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2013 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship in December. For more information on all the finalists, visit seniorCLASSaward.com.
