Haley Eckerman (Texas), Taylor Johnson (Kansas State) and Ciara Capezio (Iowa State) are Big 12 volleyball weekly award winners for matches played Nov. 5-10.

Eckerman captures her 13th career Big 12 weekly honor and eighth Offensive Player of the Week accolade all-time, while Johnson (Defensive Player of the Week) and Capezio (Rookie of the Week) are first-time weekly award recipients.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Haley Eckerman, Texas, Jr., OH, Waterloo, Iowa/East
On Saturday, Eckerman recorded her sixth double-double and fourth of the conference season vs. No. 24 Kansas with a season-high 25 kills and 13 digs. The junior led all Big 12 players for the week with 6.25 kills and 6.88 points per set. She was the only league player to average over six kills per set on the week. Additionally, Eckerman hit .333 against the Jayhawks with just five errors on 60 swings. The Longhorns moved to 11-0 in league play and won their 14th straight match.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Taylor Johnson, Kansas State, Jr., MB, Grand Island, Neb./Grand Island Northwest
Johnson led the Big 12 last week with 2.57 blocks per set, totaling 18 over two matches, including a career-high 10 on Wednesday at Texas Tech. The 10 blocks against the Red Raiders were one shy of tying the Big 12 season-high for blocks in a four-set match. Taylor became the first Wildcat to have double-digit blocks in a match this season. The junior followed up Wednesday’s performance with eight blocks against West Virginia on Saturday, which was one shy of tying the Big 12 season-high for blocks in a three-set match. She also helped K-State limit WVU to a -.059 hitting percentage.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Ciara Capezio, Iowa State, Fr., OH, Williams Bay, Wis./Burlington
Capezio had one of the best matches of her career in a week where she helped lead the Cyclones to a pair of three-set victories. In Iowa State’s victory over South Dakota last Tuesday, she recorded one of the best matches ever by an Iowa State freshman with 19 kills at a career-best .593 hitting percentage. She also added five digs, two service aces and a solo block in the win over the Coyotes. In Iowa State’s sweep of Oklahoma on Saturday, Capezio chipped in 11 kills, seven in the first set, nine digs and a service ace. She finished the week with 30 kills at 5.00 kills per set hitting at a .309 hitting percentage along with 14 digs at 2.33 per set and three service aces.
