Baylor and West Virginia represent the Big 12 in the Soccer America Preseason Top 25, as chosen by the editors of the magazine.

The Mountaineers, who are favored to win the Conference, are ranked No. 19 nationally. WVU won last season’s regular season crown with a conference record of 7-0-1 and advanced to the school’s 13th consecutive NCAA Tournament.

The Bears are No. 22 in the rankings after producing a 19-1-5 record in 2012. BU, picked to finish second in the Big 12 by the league’s head coaches, won the league’s postseason championship in 2012 with a 4-1 win over TCU in the championship match.

All nine Big 12 soccer teams open the 2013 season on Friday, Aug. 23, with league action slated to begin Sept. 26.
