Kansas and Texas are tied atop the Big 12 standings after just two weeks of league play. The Jayhawks picked up a pair of road wins last week at Kansas State and Baylor to up their winning streak to nine matches. UT has won six in a row. The two teams meet on Saturday in Lawrence, pitting the conference’s top two hitting squads against each other.

KU will host Oklahoma on Wednesday looking for its first 10-match win streak in 12 years. The current nine-game streak ties for the program’s fourth-longest all-time winning span. The Jayhawks now have a chance at their first double-digit win streak since 2001 (10).

UT moved up one spot in this week’s AVCA national rankings and is now third in the nation. The Longhorns claimed the top RPI ranking as the NCAA released its first report of the season on Monday. Kansas (14), Oklahoma (19), Kansas State (29) and West Virginia (48) are also in the top 50. Four league teams are receiving votes on the AVCA list - Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa State and Kansas State. The Sooners’ 79 votes were 32 shy of cracking the top 25 for the week.

This week features eight league matches again with TCU the only team playing just one conference contest for the week. In addition to KU, Iowa State will host a pair of Big 12 matches.

KU’s Sara McClinton was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week, marking the third straight week the Jayhawks have claimed the distinction. It was the eighth time a school has won the award for three weeks straight in the same season. KU has totaled eight weekly recognitions this season, including four Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Baylor’s match with Texas last Wednesday, which was featured on ESPNU, marked the largest volleyball crowd in school history at the Ferrell Center with 3,044 spectators.

The Big 12 is 86-31 against non-conference opponents this season - a .735 winning percentage.

Two freshmen top the Big 12 leaderboard for kills and blocks with WVU’s Jordan Anderson the owner of the top kill average (3.87) and KU’s Tayler Soucie the league leader for blocks, averaging 1.40.

West Virginia (8-0) and Texas (4-0) will look to maintain perfect home records on Wednesday night. UT is also going for its 43rd straight Big 12 Conference victory at home.
