Hamilton averaged a team-best 22.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in UT’s two opening wins of the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer. The sophomore converted 16-of-33 (.485) shots from the field along with 9-of-10 (.900) from the free throw line. He started the season with a game-high 26 points to go along with 10 rebounds in 26 minutes in a 83-52 victory against Navy. It was his second career double-double. He then tallied a game-high 19 points with four rebounds, two assists and two steals in 30 minutes of the 89-58 win over Louisiana Tech.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Jake Anderson, Iowa State, Sr., G, 6-2, 205, Chicago, Ill./Carver, Northern Illinois
Anderson made a strong debut for the Cyclones over the weekend, averaging a double-double in two Iowa State victories. The senior guard, a transfer from Northern Illinois, shot 71.4 percent in two outings with 10 assists and two steals. He started with 15 points and eight rebounds in a 78-64 tally over Northern Arizona. In that contest, he caused Big Sky Preseason Player of the Year Cameron Jones to miss his first nine shots and finish just 7-of-21 from the field. Anderson followed that effort with 10 points and 12 boards in a 74-47 win over Alabama State.
