November 04, 2012
Story line

Gillispie's replacement is Chris Walker, an assistant promoted to interim head coach in early October. The Red Raiders return four of their top five scorers and hope that seven newcomers will help raise the talent level. The Red Raiders have two solid and versatile forwards in sophomore Jordan Tolbert and junior Jaye Crockett.

Coach (interim): Chris Walker, 1st season.
Last year: 8-23 overall, 1-17, 10th in Big 12.

I'm going to give everything I have to the University, to the players and the community of Lubbock. I'm not worried about wins and losses and all that kind of stuff."
