Baylor Sweeps First Men's Basketball Weekly Honors

Junior forward Cory Jefferson and freshman center Isaiah Austin have been named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Player and Rookie of the Week in voting by a panel of media covering the Conference. It is the first honor for both student-athletes.

Jefferson captures his first weekly accolade after averaging 22.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocks to lead Baylor to a 2-0 record to start the season. The junior forward began with career highs of 26 points and 13 rebounds in a 99-77 victory over Patriot League-favorite Lehigh. He then finished with 14 points, seven rebounds and six blocks in a 78-47 win over Jackson State. Jefferson shot 78.3 percent from the field and 80 percent from the free throw line for the week, leading the team in minutes in both contests.

PHILLIPS 66 BIG 12 ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Austin had 22 points in only 17 minutes of action in the Bears' season-opening win over Lehigh. The freshman center connected on 10-of-12 (.833) shots from the floor before leaving the game early in the second half with an ankle injury. His only missed shots were on 3-point attempts, as he made 2-of-4 from beyond the arc and 8-of-8 from inside. He also added four rebounds, two blocks and one assist. Austin did not play in the BU matchup with Jackson State on Sunday.
