Andrea Geubelle (Kansas) and Kennedy Kithuka (Texas Tech) have been selected as the Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for competition Feb. 1-3. It is the second weekly award for Geubelle and first track award for Kithuka, who also earned Big 12 Cross Country Runner of the Week honors three times in the fall.

Kithuka broke his second individual school record Saturday at the Meyo Invitational finishing first overall with a time of 7:50.26 - pacing the field by over 17 seconds. The time ranks No. 2 nationally as Kithuka has broken the school record in the mile run, 3,000-meter run and in the distance medley relay as the anchor leg - all during the 2013 indoor season. Kithuka is unbeaten as a Red Raider during both the 2012 cross country season, where he won the NCAA title, and the 2013 indoor track and field season.
Big 12 Indoor Track & Field Female Athlete of the Week

Geubelle won the long jump at the Armory Collegiate Invitational in New York City over the weekend with a school record and nation-leading mark of 6.69 meters (21-11.5 ft.). The senior not only broke the Kansas school record but also the meet record, hitting the mark on her fifth attempt of the day.
Her mark is just a quarter of an inch shy of the collegiate all-time top-10 performers list, and broke the previous Kansas indoor record by 11 inches. The jump is the farthest in the nation this season by 11 inches, and ranks her seventh in the world in 2013. Geubelle also owns the No. 2 spot on the Division I triple jump performance list. For her outstanding performance, Geubelle was named the USTFCCCA's National Athlete of the Week on Monday.
