The nine Big 12 teams combined for 38 offensive touchdowns – 19 via passing and 19 on the ground. There was one interception return for a touchdown and one kickoff return for a score.
The 19 touchdown passes averaged 36.8 yards and the 19 rushing touchdowns averaged 15.4 yards. Only 10 of the 38 touchdowns from scrimmage were 10 or fewer yards.
The nine teams averaged 70 offensive plays. Two teams – Texas Tech (80) and Oklahoma (83) had surpassed the 80-play barrier.
Big 12 teams averaged 5.1 yards rushing per attempt in the opening weekend. Last year two schools (Baylor and Oklahoma State) averaged over five yards per carry for the season.

Junior quarterback Bryce Petty made his first career start and completed 18-of-23 passes for 290 yards and two touchdowns.
Junior running back Lache Seastrunk had 111 yards rushing on 11 carries, extending his school record of consecutive games with 100-plus yards rushing to five.
Kicker Aaron Jones is the school's career leader in field goals made with 46. He has made a school-record 115 consecutive extra points and he extended his career-record scoring total to 339.
Tevin Reese had a 44-yard touchdown catch; 15 of his 17 career TD receptions have gone for 40-plus yards. He is averaging 51.4 yards per career touchdown reception.
Baylor has scored 30-plus points in 19 of its last 21 games and 40-plus in 15 of its last 18.
