Sims a Finalist for Nancy Lieberman Award

Senior guard Odyssey Sims (Baylor) has been named a finalist for the 2014 Nancy Lieberman Award, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced. Candidates exhibit the floor leadership, play-making abilities and ball-handling skills of Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman. The winner will be announced at the Final Four in April.

Sims has earned several accolades this season including the Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award, Big 12 Player of the Year, Big 12 Defensive Players of the Year, All-Big 12 first-team, Big 12 All-Defensive team and was recently named to the Big 12 Championship All-Tournament team. In addition, the six-time Big 12 Player of the Week was twice named ESPNW's National Player of the Week and was recognized as the USBWA's National Player of the Week. Sims became the first player to be honored twice by ESPNW. In addition, Sims is a finalist for all of the major national awards.

The two-time All-American is averaging 28.4 points per game, which ranks No. 2 nationally, as well as 4.6 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals. She is shooting .445 from the floor, .405 from 3-point range and .799 from the free throw line.

Sims, with 619 career assists and 249 treys, ranks No. 1 in both categories on Baylor's all-time list. Her 89 made treys this season set a BU single-season record. In addition, Sims has scored a Big 12 record 938 points as a senior.
