The NCAA has released its national attendance leaders for men’s basketball and the Big 12 continues to be among the national leaders. The conference boasts nine teams ranked among the top 70 in the country.
The Big 12 averaged 10,489 fans as a conference, an average that ranked third among all leagues. It is the ninth straight season the Big 12 has averaged over 10,000 fans, the third time in the past five campaigns it has ranked among the top three conferences and fifth straight year in the top four. The Big 12 ranked fourth in overall total with 1,793,617 fans coming through the turnstiles.
The Big 12 was also second nationally in conference tournament attendance, averaging 18,999 fans for the games at Sprint Center in Kansas City.
Kansas led the conference and ranked ninth nationally with an average of 16,437 fans. Iowa State was next among attendance averages (14,192) and checked in at No. 20, followed by Kansas State at No. 29 (12,125). Six league squads were ranked in the top 39 in the nation. The Big 12 has had at least nine teams among the top 75 in attendance for 14 consecutive seasons. Oklahoma saw the biggest improvement in the conference for the second straight season, with an increase of 1,079 fans per game from a year ago to rank 15th nationally.
