Premiere of “Girl Rising” Part of Big 12 Women’s Basketball Championship Festivities

The Big 12 Conference, the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau and the American Airlines Center are pleased to be a part of the world premiere of an incredible new film, Girl Rising, to tip-off festivities surrounding the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship.

This free showing will be in AT&T Plaza outside of the American Airlines Center on Thursday, March 7 at 7 p.m. CT. The film is by an Academy Award nominated director (Richard Robbins) and features performances from Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Selena Gomez, Salma Hayek, Alicia Keys and others.

It's part of a global movement for girls' education and tells the stories of nine girls from around the world who face - and overcome - unbelievable obstacles on the path to getting an education. Each girl's story was written by a famous author and is narrated by the actresses mentioned above.

The film is approximately 100 minutes. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to view the movie in the AT&T Plaza.
