Big 12 Women's Basketball Nears Halfway Point of Conference Play

Eighty percent of Big 12 teams have a win over a nationally-ranked opponent.

Two of last weekend’s games were decided in overtime, bringing the season total to five in conference games and nine overall. The scoring margin in the five league games Jan. 25-26 was 6.6 points. 

Parity is apparent in the Big 12 from the top to the bottom of the standings. Every team has a league loss and 9-of-10 teams have at least two conference victories.

Six Conference teams are in the top 41 in the NCAA RPI. 

The Big 12 opened the conference season with road teams winning seven of the first eight matchups. Home teams now hold a slight edge at 20-18.  

Oklahoma State is undefeated away from home on the season.  Every team has suffered a loss at home. Baylor and Texas are the only two teams unbeaten in home conference games.

Thirteen Big 12 freshmen are averaging over 5.0 points a game with four in double-digits.

Sixty percent of Big 12 teams are rated or receiving votes in the Jan. 27 AP Poll.

Every Big 12 team completed the non-conference portion of its schedule with a winning record for the seventh consecutive season. Four teams finished non-league play with 10-or-more victories.

The Conference wrapped up non-league play with an 89-28 record (.761).

Nneka Enemkpali (Texas) picked up her first Big 12 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honor of the season while Nina Davis (Baylor) earned her fourth Freshman of the Week award.
