Mulkey Named WBCA Region 5 Coach of the Year

Kim Mulkey (Baylor) was announced as one of eight 2014 Russell Athletic/WBCA NCAA Division I Regional Coaches of the Year by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). All are now finalists for the inaugural Pat Summitt Trophy to be presented to the 2014 Russell Athletic/WBCA NCAA Division I National Coach of the Year.

Mulkey led the Lady Bears to a share of the Big 12 regular season championship as well as the postseason title. Her 31-4 squad won its NCAA Championship first and second round games in Waco and has advanced to the Sweet 16 to take on Kentucky in Notre Dame, Ind. The Lady Bears had to replace four starters from last year’s squad.

The 2014 Russell Athletic/WBCA NCAA Division I National Coach of the Year will be announced during the fourth annual WBCA Awards Show on Monday, April 7, in the Omni Nashville Hotel’s Broadway Ballroom. This event is part of the WBCA National Convention and is held in conjunction with the NCAA® Women’s Final Four®.
