The Big 12 leads all conferences with five women's basketball candidates for the Senior CLASS Award.
Brittney Griner (Baylor), Chelsea Poppens (Iowa State), Angel Goodrich (Kansas), Brittany Chambers (K-State) and Whitney Hand (Oklahoma) are among 30 student-athletes selected for their excellence both on and off the court.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence - community, classroom, character and competition.
The candidate class will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those names will be placed on the official ballot that is distributed nationwide to media, coaches and fans. The winner will be announced during the 2013 NCAA Women's Final Four in New Orleans on April 7 and 9.
