Baylor Moves on to Third Round of NCAA Soccer Championship

Third-seeded Baylor has reached the third round of the NCAA Soccer Championship for the first time in program history with a 2-1 overtime victory over No. 14 Georgetown Friday afternoon. The Bears will now take on second-seeded North Carolina on Sunday at noon CT in Chapel Hill, N.C.

It is the 14th straight season that a Big 12 team has advanced to the third round of the NCAA tournament. The Conference has had a least one representative in the third round in 15 of the 17 years of the Conference's existence.

A golden goal by Dana Larsen in the 93rd-minute helped Baylor (19-1-4) record its eighth straight win and extend its unbeaten streak to 20 games.

Texas Tech, the Big 12's other squad in the tournament, fell to No. 1 Florida State 3-2 in double-overtime Friday evening. This was Texas Tech's first appearance in the NCAA Tournament in program history.

After the third round, the NCAA Championship will continue with quarterfinal play on Fri., Nov. 23. The College Cup is set for Nov. 30 and Dec. 2 in San Diego, Calif.
