
The Texas duo of Danielle Dowie and Ryan Crouser have been named Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for competition March 28-31. It is the second straight weekly honor for the Longhorns on the men’s side.
Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Male Athlete of the Week
Ryan Crouser, Texas, So., Gresham, Ore.
Crouser shined in his first shot-put competition since last season. The sophomore tossed the implement 67 1/2 (20.43m) in capturing the University shot put (section A) Friday at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. His toss ranks No. 3 in the world this season and only one other performer since the beginning of the 2011 season has posted a better mark. Crouser also claimed fourth in Saturday’s University discus (section A) with a toss of 194-6 (59.28m), a mark that ranks No. 7 nationally and No. 1 in the Big 12.
Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Female Athlete of the Week

Dowie won the 400-meter hurdles at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin last weekend in 56.58 seconds, the top mark in the nation. Dowie also led off the Longhorns’ runner-up 4x400m relay squad, which posted a 3:27.65, the second-best mark nationally, top mark in the West Region and ninth-best time in UT history. In addition, Dowie ran the third leg for Texas’ 4x100m relay team, which placed third in 43.59, the No. 3 time in the nation and second-best in the West Region.
