Texas leads the field after the first two rounds of the 2014 Big 12 Men's Golf Championship at Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Texas.
The Longhorns, who took the crown last year, established a five-stroke lead with a 4-under-par score of 572 on the 36-hole day.
Texas Tech sits in second, five shots back, while Iowa State finished day one tied in third along with TCU after a late day surge.
Oklahoma shot a 593 for the day and sits at fifth.Oklahoma State, the No. 4 ranked team in the nation, is in sixth place after shooting a 594 after two rounds.
Tech's Esteban Restrepo is on top of the individual leader board finishing with a 4-under-par total of 140. The Red Raider recorded an eagle in round two along with seven birdies through the two rounds.
Three Texas men, Toni Hakula, Kramer Hickok and Beau Hossler, sit tied in second with a 3-under-par day. Texas Tech’s Matias Dominguez rounds out the top five after a two round score of 143.
The third round gets underway Saturday at 8 a.m. with Kansas, Baylor and K-State teeing off the first hole. TCU, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State will begin their rounds off the first hole at 8:50 a.m. Texas, Texas Tech and Iowa State will begin play at 9:40 a.m.
