Neuse, Alexander and Barrera Named Freshman All-Americans

Sheldon Neuse (Oklahoma), Tyler Alexander (TCU) and Tres Barrera (Texas) have earned spots on the 2014 Baseball America Freshman All-America team.
Neuse is a first team selection, while Alexander and Barrera earned second team honors.
The Big 12 Freshman of the Year, Neuse finished his first season at OU with a .304 average and a .521 slugging percentage. He ranked in the top 10 in the league in RBI, total bases, doubles, home runs, triples and slugging percentage and was the only freshman in the league’s top 10 for RBI.
Alexander, a left-handed starter for the Horned Frogs, compiled a 10-3 record with a 2.36 ERA in 20 games for TCU. The Southlake, Texas, product threw complete games in two postseason appearances for the Frogs - including the Big 12 Championship and the NCAA Fort Worth Regional winner. He is one of two freshmen to finish the year in the league’s top 10 for ERA and his 10 wins tied for the league lead.
Barrera, a catcher for the Longhorns, posted a .265 batting average and tied for the conference lead in total bases. He also ranked in the top 10 in slugging percentage, home runs, RBI and runs scored.
The Big 12 has totaled 41 Baseball America Freshman All-America selections since 1997, including three or more in a single season on six occasions.
