Alyssa Mautz (Texas A&M), Tara Macdonald (Nebraska) and Jessica Fuston (Texas Tech) have earned Big 12 Soccer Player of the Week accolades for games played from Aug. 27-29. This marks Mautz's second award, while Macdonald and Fuston are first-time winners.
Offensive Player of the Week
Alyssa Mautz, Texas A&M, MF, Sr., O'Fallon, Mo.
Mautz scored four goals and was key in two Aggie victories over ranked opponents last weekend as Texas A&M defeated No. 16 Virginia Tech, 5-3, on Friday and No. 21 Washington State, 1-0, on Sunday. The senior recorded her second hat trick, including the game-winner against Virginia Tech, and netted the decisive lone goal against Washington State. The midfielder totaled eight points on the weekend and leads the conference with 10 points on the season.
Defensive Player of the Week
Tara Macdonald, Nebraska, GK, Sr., Austin, Texas
Macdonald totaled seven saves in a pair of 2-0 Nebraska shutouts over Loyola Chicago and Loyola Maryland. The senior notched a four-save, complete game shutout against Loyola Maryland on Sunday. Macdonald is among the top in the conference with 0.00 goals against average and a 1.000 save percentage.
Newcomer of the Week
Jessica Fuston, Texas Tech, F, Fr., Cedar Park, Texas
Fuston started both of Texas Tech's matches over the weekend and played all 90 minutes at Rice. The freshman forward scored her third and fourth goals of the season on Sunday against the Owls and is tied for third in the conference with eight total points on the season. The Red Raiders notched two shutout wins over Northwestern State and Rice to improve to 4-0, the best start in school history.
