Emily Goldstein (Iowa State), Maddie Jobe (Iowa State) and Ashley Williams (Kansas) have earned Big 12 Soccer Player of the Week accolades for games played from Aug. 17-20. This marks the third award for both Goldstein and Jobe over their careers. This is the first weekly honor for Williams.
Offensive Player of the Week
Emily Goldstein, Iowa State, MF, Jr., Orange County, Calif.
Goldstein scored two goals and had an assist for the Cyclones as ISU went undefeated last weekend. Goldstein's goal against Creighton in overtime was a sudden-victory tally. The Cyclone junior's goal against Nebraska-Omaha came just 19 seconds after teammate Megan Longobardi scored Iowa State's first goal of the year. Goldstein had a team-high-tying seven shots for the weekend, a team-best four shots on goal and a team-high five points.
Defensive Player of the Week
Maddie Jobe, Iowa State, GK, Jr., Eden Prairie, Minn.
Jobe did not allow a goal in the Cyclones' first two matches of the season over the weekend. She registered one shutout and made six saves. Jobe played 155 minutes in goal for the Cyclones in the two matches, earning two victories.
Newcomer of the Week
Ashley Williams, Kansas, F, Fr., Albuquerque, N.M.
Williams started both KU matches over the weekend. In the first against UC Santa Barbara, she netted her first career goal in the 97th minute, a game winner from five yards out to help Kansas take its season-opener. Williams also found the back of the net again when she tied the match at 1-1 in the second half against Northwestern. For the weekend, she tallied four shots and is tied for the league lead with two goals.
