Three Big 12 Teams Earn Bids to the 2012 NCAA Soccer Championship

Baylor, Texas Tech and West Virginia were selected to participate in the 2012 NCAA Soccer Championship, the NCAA announced. All three teams will compete in opening round action starting on Friday, Nov. 9.

Just a day after claiming the Big 12 Championship title and the league's automatic bid, Baylor (17-1-4, 5-0-3 Big 12) was selected as a No. 3 seed and will travel to Tempe, Ariz., to play Arizona State (10-8-2) Friday, Nov. 9 at 8 p.m. CT. The Bears are now unbeaten in their last 18 games and have won six straight. In true road games, Baylor is 5-1-4, which is the most wins for Baylor on the road since 1999.

Texas Tech (15-5-1, 5-2-1 Big 12) will be making its first NCAA appearance in program history when the Red Raiders play host to North Texas (16-4-3) at John Walker Soccer Complex Saturday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. CT. Head coach Tom Stone's squad is ranked 22nd in the latest RPI and is 7-2-1 in its last 10 games.

Regular season champions West Virginia (11-4-4, 7-0-1 Big 12) will host Princeton (13-3-1) at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium Saturday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. ET. WVU has played in 13 straight NCAA tournaments, the ninth longest streak in the nation, and has hosted six times previously.

After the completion of the first round, second-round matches will be played Friday, Nov. 16 at campus sites, and third-round matches will be played Sunday, Nov. 18, at the same campus sites. Quarterfinal matches will be played Nov. 23, 24 or 25 also on campus sites. The 31st annual Women's College Cup is set for Nov. 30 and Dec. 2 at Torero Stadium in San Diego, Calif.
