Courtney Dike (Oklahoma State) and Vittoria Arnold (TCU) have earned Big 12 Soccer weekly accolades for games played from Aug. 30 - Sept. 2. This marks the third Big 12 weekly award for Arnold dating back to last season while Dike notches her first two conference weekly awards.
Dike becomes the fifth student-athlete to earn both the Offensive Player and Newcomer of the Week honor in the same week.
Offensive Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week
Courtney Dike, Oklahoma State, F, Fr., Edmond, Okla.
Courtney Dike led the Cowgirls to a pair of wins over the weekend as she recorded three goals and an assist. She tallied five shots in the two games, with three of those shots on goal. In an out-of-conference edition of Bedlam, the freshman forward scored a pair of goals, heading in a cross to tie the score at 1-1 and six minutes later winning the ball from the goalie and converting an open-net chance to put OSU up 3-1. In Sunday’s 2-1 win over Gonzaga, Dike factored in both OSU scores. She netted the first goal of the game by taking the ball from a pair of GU defenders and converting the chance, then recorded an assist on the Cowgirls’ second goal, which proved to be the game winner.
Defensive Player of the Week
Vittoria Arnold, TCU, GK, Jr., Mesquite, Texas
Arnold saw over 200 minutes of action during the weekend and finished 1-0-1 after a pair of overtime contests against No. 25 LSU and Houston Baptist. She registered her ninth career shutout with three saves against LSU in Baton Rouge on Friday night. In the Horned Frogs contest on Sunday against Houston Baptist, she allowed only one goal, a penalty kick late in the game. Arnold earned Defensive Player of the Week honors twice last season.
