Schwindel, Arnold & Beckie Earn Big 12 Weekly Soccer Honors
September 18, 2012

Kate Schwindel (West Virginia), Vittoria Arnold (TCU) and Janine Beckie (Texas Tech) have earned Big 12 Soccer Weekly accolades for games played from Sept. 14-16. This is the first career recognition for all three student-athletes.

Offensive Player of the Week
Kate Schwindel, West Virginia, F, So., Livingston, N.J.
Schwindel totaled three goals and four assists in WVU's final two non-conference matches, while tying two schools records in the process. Against High Point, she finished with two goals - the first multi-goal game of her career-- and three assists, including the game-winning helper. Her three assists in a match tie the school record, becoming only the fourth player to do so. On Friday, Schwindel recorded her fourth career one-goal and one-assist match against Towson. She scored her second game-winner of the season and fourth of her career. Schwindel has scored in four-straight games and five of the last six. She leads the team in goals (7), assists (4), points (18) and game-winners (2), with her 10 points on the weekend coming in only 115 minutes of action.

Defensive Player of the Week
Vittoria Arnold, TCU, GK, So., Mesquite, Texas
Arnold posted two shutouts on the week and has three straight shutouts over the last two weeks. She combined to make seven saves in the two matches where a total of 20 shots were directed on goal. The sophomore has not allowed a goal in her last 293:50 in net. Arnold helped the Frogs hand North Texas its first home defeat since 2010. Both of her saves came in the second half when the Mean Green were pushing to tie the game. Last weekend, she was 7-for-7 in save opportunities in 180 minutes played.

Newcomer of the Week
Janine Beckie, Texas Tech, F, Fr., Highlands Ranch, Colo.
Beckie scored three goals this weekend including a game-winner with 31 seconds remaining in double overtime to beat No. 20 Long Beach State on Friday. Beckie is currently second in the Big 12 and 16th in the NCAA with three game-winning goals this season while leading all Big 12 freshmen in the category. She leads the Big 12 in both shots (48) and shots per game (5.33) while ranking third in total goals. Friday's game-winner was the second goal of the night for Beckie as she tied the match 2-2 with a strike late in the second half, pushing the Red Raiders into overtime before giving Tech its first win over a ranked opponent since 2009. She was named the MVP of the Cal State Fullerton Under Armour Invitational after netting her third goal of the weekend in the Red Raiders'  2-1 win over Cal State Fullerton.
