West Virginia senior forward has been named the Disney Soccer/NSCAA Player of the Week, announced the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
The Overland Park, Kan., native was also named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week for her performance in last weekend's contest against Texas.
Silva led the Mointaineers to their fifth straight victory and third conference win of the season with two goals in WVU’s 2-1 victory over the Longhorns on Oct. 4, at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium, in Morgantown. The contest was her first multi-goal game of the season and pushed her season goal total to a team- and Big 12-best eight.
She tallied her first goal in the 15th minute, as she finished a cross from freshman midfielder Ashley Lawrence. Up 1-0 at the start of the second half, the Mountaineers wasted little time padding their lead, with Silva netting her second goal of the evening 32 seconds into the period.
The foward ranks No. 14 in the NCAA and No. 1 in the Big 12 with 26 points (8 goals, 10 assists). She leads the conference in total goals and is No. 40 in the NCAA. Her assist total and assist-per-game average (0.77) rank third nationally and No. 1 in the Big 12.
