Sims and Johnson Named Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Players of the Week

Odyssey Sims (Baylor) and Seanna Johnson (Iowa State) were selected for Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball weekly honors, as chosen by a media panel. Sims was honored for the eighth time in her career and picked up her third player of the week recognition.

Odyssey Sims led Baylor to four victories last week, an early-week game vs. Rice and three en route to the championship of the four-team Athletes in Action Classic. The senior guard averaged 27.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists. She shot 52.1 percent (38-of-73) from the floor and 78.1 percent (25-of-32) from the free throw line. In addition, she committed just four turnovers in the four games. Sims, with 492 career assists, is just two dimes shy of becoming BU’s all-time assists leader. Angela Tisdale (2004-08) holds the record with 493. She was also named the espnW National Player of the Week.

Seanna Johnson averaged 13.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in Iowa State’s two road wins last week. She also recorded her first-career double-double in ISU’s victory at Drake with career-highs in points (14) and rebounds (11). Johnson shot 50 percent (8-of-16) from the field, including 60 percent (3-of-5) from the three-point line. She also knocked down 80 percent  (8-of-10) of her free throws.
