Texas Tech took advantage of Texas’ 7-over-par day to move into first place at the 2014 Big 12 Men’s Golf Championship.
The Red Raiders shot a 1-over-par 289 today for an overall 2-plus-par 866 to secure the top spot heading into Sunday’s final round. After the Longhorns established a five-stroke lead on Friday, UT recorded 16 bogeys today to drop to second with a 3-plus-par 867.
Iowa State remains in third (883) with Oklahoma State and TCU trailing (887).
TCU’s Julien Brun recorded a 66 third round to jump from sixth to first on the individual leaderboard. Brun’s seven birdies on the day helped the junior secure a three-stroke lead over Texas’ Beau Hossler.
Kramer Hickok (Texas) and Sam Daley (Iowa State) have a two-stroke lead, 215, over fifth place, Texas’ Toni Hakula, (217).
The final round tees off on Sunday at 7:30 a.m. with Oklahoma State, TCU and Baylor teeing off the first hole. Texas Tech, Texas and Iowa State will begin their rounds off the first hole at 8:20 a.m. Oklahoma, Kansas and Kansas State will begin play at 8:00 a.m. off the 10th tee. The awards ceremony will follow the conclusion of the fourth round.
