Seven Big 12 men’s basketball standouts – Georges Niang (Iowa State), Perry Ellis (Kansas), Kelly Oubre (Kansas), Marcus Foster (K-State), Buddy Hield (Oklahoma), Isaiah Taylor (Texas) and Juwan Staten (West Virginia) – have been invited to attend the prestigious LeBron James Skills Academy in Las Vegas from July 9-12.  The total is the most of any conference in the nation.

Hosted by the four-time NBA MVP, the camp will include four days of competitive skills workouts and 5-on-5 games to help players showcase their skills. The camp will feature the top 80 high school players and the top 30 collegiate players.

Niang earned All-Big 12 Third-Team honors in 2013-14. He is Iowa State’s top returning scorer (16.7 ppg) for 2014-15 and also averaged 4.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists a year ago. Niang recently returned from the Nike Big Man Skills Academy. Ellis is the top returning scorer for the Jayhawks after recording 13.5 points per game last season. An incoming freshman at KU, Oubre was rated as the No. 11 player in the nation in the ESPN.com recruiting rankings.

Foster is coming off one of the best freshmen seasons in school history, as he led the Wildcats in eight categories, including scoring (15.5 ppg.), double-digit scoring games (27), 20-point games (eight), field goals (177), 3-point field goals (79) and free throw percentage (73.4). He was selected to the All-Big 12 Second Team.  Hield topped the Sooners in scoring (16.5 ppg), a mark that ranked 10th in the Big 12.  He was also 10th in the league in field goal percentage (.445) and placed second overall in total steals with 46.

Taylor averaged 12.7 points a year ago and led the Longhorns with 141 assists, a total that ranks fourth among returning Big 12 players.  Staten was the leading scorer in the Big 12 a year ago, finishing with 18.1 points per game. He was named to the All-Big 12 First Team and the Big 12 All-Defensive Team.
