Texas led the league with five student-athletes making the list in the Central Region. Oklahoma and Texas A&M paced the conference with the most first-team selections as they each placed three in the Central Region squad. Overall, the Sooners and Aggies had four total athletes make the teams, while Missouri tallied three players on the squads. Baylor, Iowa State, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech all had one apiece.
OU's Keilani Ricketts and Jessica Shults, along with TAMU's Mel Dumezich are three-time first-team selections. UT's Nadia Taylor and Lexy Bennett are four-time honorees, having garnered two first-place team accolades and two second-team distinctions throughout their careers. Other repeat all-region members include Ashley Fleming (Missouri), Taylor Hoagland (Texas), Maggie Hull (Kansas), Blaire Luna (Texas), Meagan May (Texas A&M), and Chelsea Thomas (Missouri).
The all-region teams were chosen by NFCA member coaches from each region, and all the honorees will now be eligible for selection to one of three 2012 NFCA Division I All-American teams. In addition, conference pitchers and players of the year not selected to the regional teams were added for All-America consideration.
