Texas Tech outfielder Sydni Emanuel and Kansas pitcher Alicia Pille have earned Big 12 Player and Pitcher of the Week honors. Emanuel is the first freshman to receive Player of the Week since March 5, 2013.
Big 12 Player of the Week
Sydni Emanuel, Texas Tech, Fr., Outfield, Missouri City, Texas
Emanuel hit a team-leading .565 this past weekend during Texas Tech’s trip to California for the Titans Classic and San Diego State Classic. Emanuel totaled a .583 on-base percentage and frustrated opponents on the bases, scoring nine times while stealing nine bases as well. The solid week at the plate pushed Emanuel into the Big 12 Conference lead for hits, runs scored and stolen bases and into second place with a .447 batting average. The freshman posted four multiple-hit games in six contests as she finished with a hit in each of Tech’s six games. Emanuel matched her season high with four hits Sunday afternoon against Long Beach State as she went 4-for-4 with two stolen bases.
Emanuel stole at least one base in all six games, including two in three-consecutive games against UNLV, Fullerton and Long Beach State. She is now just six stolen bases shy of matching the Texas Tech single-season school record.
Big 12 Pitcher of the Week
